Harrington Park Reserve Upgrade

GroupGSA for Camden Council

Typology: Community
Status: Design Complete, Documentation to Tender Level
Location: Cessnock, NSW

Project Details

The existing Harrington Park soccer pitches and reserve are targeted for an upgrade by Council. An existing basketball court is to be removed, the pitch arrangement reconfigured and turf surface regraded to include a FIFA sized primary field and a series of smaller and training pitches for various age groups.

The site is flood affected and GSA and the engineering team resolved a nil-change cut and fill approach to ensure the flood conditions were not altered.

The Club and Council required the design to centre around a new Clubhouse building with drop off and arrival areas. GroupGSA landscape led the design with and GSA architecture team to deliver a landscape driven approach with a responsive, final, integrated and cross-discipline design. The landscape and the building are designed to create an amphitheatre space with terraced seating as well as a series of outdoor areas that capture views towards Harrington Lake. The landform is sculpted to form the Hill, an additional spectator viewing area.
