Located in Sydney’s heritage Rocks precinct, fjmt was engaged to design a mixed use development with a contemporary connection to the heritage precinct.
The project is underpinned by the concept of enhancing the pubic realm. A new Cumberland Place Courtyard will provide a destination at the mid-point of a significant heritage trail running from Circular Quay to the ridge of The Rocks and beyond.
The Courtyard will become a destination unto itself, offering food and beverage opportunities, interpretive elements and passive recreation for the enjoyment of visitors, residents and local workers.
The landscape finishes support the architectural and interiors palette, aiming to respect and pay homage to the existing sandstone fabric of The Rocks by providing contemporary materiality that allows the sandstone to feature.
